Throughout her time as an ASDA member, Alyssa has played an active role on the Fundraising committee, and was recently elected as the new chair of the committee. When asked about her favorite part of the fundraising committee, she was most excited about the new members whom she describes as “an amazing group of spunky DMD 2018s that seriously bring the fun to FUNdraising”. In the past, the fundraising committee has only had around 3-4 members and the new growth in committee members is both exciting and entertaining.
Her most memorable ASDA experience was at NLC 2013. Not only did she get closer to her fellow BU ASDA colleagues at the conference, but she was also able to make lifelong friends within the ASDA chapters nationwide.
I asked Alyssa about her accomplishments though ASDA, expecting to get some type of remark about being published on ASDA’s Blog ‘Mouthing Off’, but instead she said, “Everyone in our ASDA family works together. All that we do has been accomplished through teamwork, collaboration, and unity. The strength of our chapter doesn't come from any individual, but from each and every member. We are truly lucky to have such passionate people in our BU ASDA chapter”. Alyssa is truly a selfless person, and she sincerely exemplifies one of those passionate people she describes and we are very lucky to have her.
If Alyssa wasn’t drilling and filling, she says she would be “out in a salt marsh collecting data for a field experiment as a Marine Ecologist”! Regardless of her profession, Alyssa claims, “Before I die I WILL hike the Appalachian Trail in its entirety!!” definitely something at the top of her bucket list.
Some final remarks that she leaves us with are to “Always take time for yourself!! Get outside, read a good book, and eat delicious food!”
Congratulations again to Alyssa, and thank you for your commitment and contributions to our chapter!
