![]() Every year BU ASDA committees puts on events throughout the year. There isn’t a committee that doesn’t work hard to showcase what they are about, how to get involved, shares the issues, and of course, have lots of fun! Let’s start with Community Outreach. Each year, volunteers are asked to help with Countdown to Kindergarten where BU dental students help raise awareness about oral health and hygiene and help educate family and young children. BU Dental Relay for Life had their fourth annual teams sign up and walk the track on main campus to help raise awareness and money for cancer research. Health and Wellness ran their second annual Coffee and Cookie Hour for all classes and to get people up and moving they had their second annual Stairway to Health. Last year the Newsbite was published 3 times and our newsletter won Quality of Information at Gold Crown Awards. Social Committee ran amazing events as per usual with Med/Dent Hallowe’en party, ASDA BB/BS evening social, St Patty’s Day and of course ran new events as well including a gathering at the Nutcracker Performance held by the Boston Ballet. What a night to remember! Pre-dental continued to increase involvement from pre-dental students and had a record breaking number of schools attend a tour, practice interview strategies and learn about the application. This year was the first year SNDA and ASDA joined forces to host “Impressions Day”. Advocacy was outstanding this year. Between our district 1 trustee (Sammy Gil) and our LL (Dave Lane), a lot of awareness about our careers was put forth. At the end of the year, because of all the hard work, Dave Lane won National Legislative Liaison of the Year Award! Fundraising this past year went and beyond to sell BU Swag, toothbrushes, and much more. We hit an all time high and surpassed what we made in previous years! Dental Education conjunct with ADEA continued to host more and more educational events in the sim lab where upper year students were made available to help first and second year students prepare for their upcoming summative exams. Lunch and Learn continued to educate on finances, new technology, etc. but this year was different as we had 2 new vendors come talk about their products as well as hosted our very first webinar! Without our PR we definitely wouldn’t be able to get the word out about all our events. They continue do promote and showcase BU ASDA. This past year was full of so many new and old successful events. I look forward to this coming year as we strive for the best with a new team, new ideas, successful events all leading up to Annual Session 2015 in hopes of winning Ideal Chapter Award 2014!
