![]() Congratulations to Nikkita Muwanguzi (DMD 2017) for being selected as the ASDA member of the month for November! As the Vice Chair of ASDA's Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Nikkita took on her role with passion and enthusiasm. What Nikkita loves most about ASDA is the chance to network and get to know fellow dental students through various volunteer events, conferences, social gatherings, and educational lunch and learns. When asked about her committee, Nikkita said “I like a lot of things about the committee, but my most favorite aspect is its inclusivity; no matter what background a person is from they can relate to and enjoy all of what this committee has to offer. I especially loved that as Vice Chair the Committee afforded me the opportunity to spearhead its first Sweet Taste of Culture event that took place in early November 2014.” With desserts, music, and dance performances from across the world, this event turned out as a big hit! If you have met Nikkita, you know that she genuinely has a witty bone. Being told numerous times that she’s funny and entertaining, she would like to find out if that is true by performing a stand-up comedy one day. Another big thing on her bucket list is to travel to all the continents (except for Antarctica- she would not survive 5 minutes in the cold) so she can say that she literally travelled around the world. One of her favourite things to do outside of school is writing lyrics and poetry. She finds it a way to escape the stressfulness of school by getting transported to a different world by the words that flow through her pen and onto the blank page. Regarding her selection as member of the month, Nikkita humbly said “I am very touched and honoured that I was chosen as ASDA’s member of the month for November, I did not expect it at all. I see this as great opportunity to encourage others to get involved with ASDA and contribute to making it the successful Association that it is today. It is never too late to share your ideas and be a part of all that ASDA has to offer; maybe you will be just like me and so many others that have caught the ASDA fever!"
