![]() BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO DIALA! Diala Chahine, DMD '18, was selected as this year's November Member of the Month for her outstanding work as Chair for the pre-dental committee. She has spearheaded many pre-dental events and helped organize the Wisdom Tooth Wednesday project. Diala we want to recognize you for all your efforts in making BU ASDA the best chapter! To learn a little more about Diala we asked her a few questions, here are her responses: Where are you from? Lincoln, RI What made you interested in joining the Pre-dental Committee of our ASDA chapter? I went to Providence College for my undergrad and we had always coordinated BU dental school visits in which we had a chance to interact with the faculty (Dr. C, Dr. Dunham, Ms. Sarkis), the dental students, and at the end were given a tour of the facilities. As a pre-dental student you're always so stressed about applications, interviews, etc. and I remember when I went to those visits all that stress went away because everyone was so helpful and friendly. BU truly felt like being part of a family. Because of these experiences I chose BU dental and became part of BU ASDA's pre-dental committee to hopefully give other pre-dental students the same experiences I had. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I love to spend time with my friends and family. Exploring new places and traveling is one of my favorite things to do. Also jamming out to songs and breaking out in dance can be pretty fun. What is on your bucket list? One of them is to go on dental mission trips to third world countries and make a habit of giving back to those less fortunate on a regular basis. Another one is to explore the seven wonders of the world & travel to every continent. I also want to become a spin or zumba instructor at some point (at least that one should be the easiest). What is your most memorable ASDA moment? ASDA's Annual Session in Dallas and the National Leadership Conference in Chicago have to be some of my favorite experiences in dental school so far. I HIGHLY recommend anyone that is interested to apply because the experiences and connections you make are so worth it! As for most memorable moments, I would have to say helping out pre-dental students and being a mentor to them is extremely rewarding. Any last thoughts or comments? My mom always says, "If there's a will there's a way".. you can do anything you put your mind into so never forget that.
